THE king of Tasmanian tourism, Rob Pennicott, has once again scooped the pool at the Tasmanian Tourism Awards.
“Tonight’s awards again show why Rob Pennicott is such an icon of Tasmanian tourism,” Tourism Industry Council Tasmania chief executive Luke Martin said.
Mr Pennicott won four categories, including the coveted gold medal for Best New Tourism Development for his “Tasmanian Seafood Seduction” experience.
Some of Tasmania’s best-known tourism experiences, along with a wave of emerging operators opening Tasmania to new visitor markets, were recognised at the awards in Hobart.
Twenty-three tourism operators representing all parts of Tasmania and all aspects of the tourism industry were awarded gold medals, with 12 first time winners in their category.
Tasmanian property developer Brett Torossi was awarded the Tasmanian Tourism Champion, and two of her developments – Avalon Coastal Retreat and Avalon City Retreat – won accommodation awards.
